I recently have heard others talking about this and on the news. Apparently the United States gives Pakistan 150 million dollars a month to "aid" them on the war against terrorism. So, considering the years that this aid has been going on we have given the Pakistan a ton of money. I personally think this is totally wrong.
What have they done to aid us or help us in the fight? They lost Osama when they were sent in to get him so I guess the big question is "what do they have to show for all the money that we have invested in them." I see nothing and this upsets me. Especially with all the controversy surrounding President Musharraf of Pakistan, I am really just sick of Pakistan.
They are made out to be an ally of the United States and of the war on terror, but has their help been significant and are they really that trustworthy. I think not. I see Musharraf as someone that is holding out his hand for money while saying that he will aid us in all the ways he can, but he is completely insincere and really just focused on using the money to benefit his own country.
The United States uses Pakistan as a place for us to mark off as non-threatening but I really think that they are just as untrustworthy as many other countries in today’s world.

Yeah, I read the same/similar article. If Pakistan is only using our aid for their own uses, I think we should seriously step in. I mean, 1/3 of our war money is going to Pakistan as aid! That money could be better used for education! I just can't believe how much we're giving the country and we're not even seeing an reciepts on what they're buying. The US needs to get ontop of our economic situation with the war in Iraq.
Pakistan was actually a huge debate topic in the presidential debates.
Ya that is pretty messed up. I think it is bad enough we are spending so much on this so called war on terrorism, but to be throwing money away on Pakistan is ridiculous. If we had some proof that this money was being used in a productive way then that would maybe be okay but it isnt. Maybe Musharraf is using the money for his own political agendas.
I agree with you. I think it is completely wrong that we are giving money to the place where Osama Bin Laden is most likely hiding. For all we know, that money that we are giving could be used to be keeping him alive. We need to stop aiding pakistan.
Austin, I agree with you. This was actually discussed this week during my block. It is ridiculous that we are giving so much money to aid Pakistan when we cannot even handle our own country. I think it is time we focus on reforming our nation- healthcare, education, immigration, etc- before entering into wars and helping out other countries.
